Crew supporters will be treated to a marquee Eastern Conference matchup on Saturday night when the Black & Gold, unbeaten in their last four games, host Nashville SC.
Three Things to Know
1 – Saturday night is the Soccer For All match, presented by Zenni Optical, and celebrates inclusion and how the beautiful game can unify all communities and cultures around the world — especially in Central Ohio. Matchday elements will recognize togetherness, Pride Month and Juneteenth, and the first 7,500 fans entering Lower.com Field will receive a Soccer For All rally towel. Crew players will wear “LOVE UNITES” training tops before the game, while Columbus artist T.Wong will perform Lift Every Voice and Sing and the National Anthem, accompanied by American Sign Language presenter Jody Daulton. As we all know, Columbus is a vibrant and dynamic community and that will be on full display on Saturday night.
2 – The visitors enter Saturday’s matchup with only two nights of rest since their 1-0 loss at CF Montréal on Wednesday night. Before that game, Nashville, which is second in the Eastern Conference, had been unbeaten in 10-straight games. The club is led by its No. 10, Hany Mukhtar, who has 13 goals and seven assists through 19 league appearances. The reigning Landon Donovan MVP Award winner has contributed to a whopping 71.4% percent of all Nashville goals this season. If Columbus can keep the German quiet, the stats say the opposition’s attack will be tamed, too.
3 – The 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup also kicks off Saturday. Three Black & Gold players — Kevin Molino, Aidan Morris and Jacen Russell-Rowe — will represent their respective countries in the continent’s premier international competition. The Gold Cup runs from June 24 to July 16. Molino will be with the Soca Warriors of Trinidad and Tobago and will face Morris and the U.S. Men’s National Team in the Gold Cup Group Stage. As for Russell-Rowe, he could make his senior international debut with Canada during the tournament.
When They Last Met
Yaw Yeboah gave the Crew the lead with an early strike, but the club lost, 3-1, when the teams played on May 28, 2023 at GEODIS Park in Tennessee. As for the last matchup at Lower.com Field, Nashville won, 1-0, on April 2, 2022.
