Columbus (2020): Tarbell was acquired via a trade with the San Jose Earthquakes on February 19, 2020 and made seven regular-season appearances (six starts). He made his regular-season Crew SC debut appearance during a Group Stage match of the MLS is Back Tournament against Atlanta United* (July 21), earning his first win and shutout in a Black & Gold jersey. Tarbell made a total of two appearances (both starts) during the MLS is Back Tournament. The goalkeeper then started at home against Chicago Fire FC (August 20), earning his second clean sheet victory for the Crew, followed by a start on the road at New York City FC (August 24). Tarbell then made four consecutive appearances (three starts) from October 3 through October 18, notably being named to the MLS Team of the Week following his five-save performance at home against New York City FC (October 18). In Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs action, the goalkeeper made two starts at home: against Nashville SC (November 29) - notably posting his first-ever postseason shutout and win - and against the New England Revolution (December 6), posting a second straight shutout to help the Club advance to MLS Cup 2020.

San Jose (2016-2019): Tarbell played for the San Jose Earthquakes from 2016-2019 after being chosen in the First Round of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft by the Earthquakes. During his time in San Jose, Tarbell registered 128 saves in MLS regular-season action. In addition to his 41 regular-season appearances, Tarbell also made seven appearances (all starts) in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup from 2017-2019. Notably, the goalkeeper helped the Quakes reach the semifinals of the 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
COLLEGE EXPERIENCE
At the collegiate level, Tarbell played for Clemson University from 2012-2015, making 56 appearances (55 starts). Tarbell helped the Tigers reach the final of the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament in 2015, his senior year. During his time at Clemson, Tarbell earned a spot on the following end-of-year teams: the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-America Second Team (2015), the NCAA College Cup All-Tournament Team (2015), the All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) First Team (2015) and the ACC All-Tournament Team (2014).

PERSONAL
Tarbell’s parents are John and Mary Ann. He has an older sister, Elisha, who is a former University of Southern Mississippi soccer player, inspired Tarbell to play soccer. He is married to Caroline and they live with their cat. In his free time, Tarbell likes to cook with his wife- including making a good barbecue – sitting outside and taking leisure walks. He loves to play different sports including golf, tennis and basketball. Growing up, Tarbell looked up to U.S. Men’s National Team goalkeeper Tim Howard. His favorite TV series include Game of Thrones and The Office. Tarbell listens mostly to country and rock, including bands like the Foo Fighters and the Red Hot Chili Peppers). His favorite place to vacation is home in New Orleans so that he can visit family. He speaks English.
