Week 18 of Major League Soccer saw a 2-1 victory from Columbus Crew SC against Real Salt Lake at MAPFRE Stadium. Midfielder Eduardo Sosa earned a nod to MLSsoccer.com’s Team of the Week after his game-winning goal.
The Venezuelan made his first Crew SC and MLS start on Saturday, scoring the game-winning goal in the 23rd minute. Harrison Afful headed a ball to Pedro Santos who crossed a perfectly placed ball to Sosa for the finish. Sosa finished the match with 22 successful passes, one shot on target and one goal.
This is Sosa’s first-ever MLSsoccer.com’s Team of the Week recognition. Sosa made his Crew SC and MLS debut on March 2 against Toronto, coming on as a substitute for Niko Hansen in the 63rd minute. The rookie has registered three shots this season, including two shots on target.
Next up, Crew SC will host Costa Rican First Division side Deportivo Saprissa in an international friendly on Tuesday, July 3. The match kicks off at MAPFRE Stadium at 7 p.m. ET.
The Black & Gold then head back to the West Coast to face the LA Galaxy at StubHub Center. The match kicks off at 10:30 p.m. ET.
