A third-straight home win for Columbus Crew SC saw Gyasi Zardes, Milton Valenzuela (bench) and Federico Higuain (bench) land spots on MLSsoccer.com’s Team of the Week in Week 24.
A late stoppage-time finish from Zardes gave Columbus a 1-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo on Saturday night. Harrison Afful sent in a lofting cross from the flank for Zardes, who sent a one-touch ball into the back-left corner of the net for his 14th goal of the season. Zardes played the full 90 minutes and finished the match with 14 passes, two interceptions and one goal.
Federico Higuain re-joined Crew SC’s Starting XI on Saturday after taking time off due to back pain. The midfielder leads Columbus in chances created and assists. Higuain played 75 minutes and recorded two shots on goal and 87 passes.
Defender Milton Valenzuela played 80 minutes on Saturday before being replaced by Eddie Opoku. Valenzuela completed 45 passes and won two tackles on the night.
