But prior to kickoff from RFK Stadium, here are three things to know about the Black-and-Red:
Series History & Recent Result
PREVIEW: #DCvCLB
The Black & Gold are 26-26-11 in 63 matches all-time against D.C. United, and have gone unbeaten in four of their last five on the road at RFK Stadium. The last meeting between these two Major League Soccer originals came on July 16, 2016 at MAPFRE Stadium, ending in a 1-1 draw behind the soft touch of Ola Kamara.
Mighty Mullins
Since the Black-and-Red acquired Patrick Mullins from New York City FC on July 20 of this year, the forward has been spectacular. In 11 games so far with D.C. United, Mullins has netted seven goals — including a hat trick against Chicago Fire — and ranks second in MLS for goals per 90 minutes behind Crew SC’s Kamara.
Overachieving Offense
In their first 19 games of 2016, the Black-and-Red netted just 18 goals en route to a 5-7-7 record; since that July 20 mark — however — its been a different story. D.C. United has gone unbeaten in nine of its last 11 matches, finding the back of the net 25 times over that stretch and ultimately catapulting the club into a spot in the 2016 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.
