A quick three-day turnaround sees Columbus Crew SC return to MAPFRE Stadium on Saturday May 12 to host the Chicago Fire. It is the second meeting of the season kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Last month, Crew SC traveled to Toyota Park and produced plenty of scoring chances. Columbus fired 20 shots and won 10 corners, but fell short to Chicago, 1-0.
Columbus earned a victory over the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday night. In the 53rd minute, forward Gyasi Zardes took advantage of a Cristian Martinez cross that took a deflection and tapped in the game-winning goal. Goalkeeper Zack Steffen recorded three saves, securing his fourth shutout of the season.
Chicago is also coming off of a quick turnaround after a Wednesday night match against Montreal. The Fire scored a late winner in the 88th minute to beat Montreal 1-0. The Black & Gold are 18-24-18 all time against Chicago.
Crew SC is hosting its first Pups at the Pitch of the season on Saturday. For just $35 you and your 4-legged friend can get a General Admission ticket in the lower sideline to watch Crew SC take on the Chicago Fire. Prior to kick off, you and your dog will have access to a designated dog park at MAPFRE Stadium.
