Columbus Crew SC returns to MAPFRE Stadium for the second straight home match to host San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday for Superhero Night. The two clubs’ lone meeting of the 2018 Major League Soccer regular season kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Columbus and San Jose last met on August 5, 2017 at Avaya Stadium. Despite goalkeeperZack Steffen’s five saves, San Jose escaped with a 2-1 result. Columbus’s single goal came from former San Jose Earthquake, Adam Jahn. Jahn was acquired by Crew SC in a trade with the San Jose Earthquakes in 2016.
The Black & Gold are fresh off of a 2-2 draw against New England Revolution last week. Crew SC took the lead twice, once on a own goal by Revolution’s Andrew Farrell and again on a go-ahead by Gyasi Zardes, with New England responding shortly after each goal.
San Jose is coming off of a 3-2 road loss against Orlando City SC. San Jose midfielder Florian Jungwirth scored both of the Quakes' goals off of corner kicks late in the game.
The Black & Gold hold an overall 19-15-7 record against the Quakes.
