Columbus Crew SC starts an action-packed week on Wednesday, hosting the Philadelphia Union at MAPFRE Stadium. The two clubs' second head-to-head match of the season is set to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Crew SC left Talen Energey Stadium with a point after a scoreless stalemate against the Union in Week 3 of the 2018 Major League Soccer regular-season. Federico Higuain set up the Black & Gold offense on three separate occasions, but the final goal was not there. Goalkeeper Zack Steffen recorded his second shutout of the season with three saves against the Union.
A 10-man Crew SC split points with Seattle last Saturday at CenturyLink Field. In the 15th minute, midfielder Pedro Santos was shown a straight red card following a video review on a tackle — causing him to miss Wednesday's match. The 31st minute saw defender Alex Crognalemake his first appearance since returning from being on-loan with Orange County SC. The Black & Gold defense allowed only one shot on goal throughout the game as Steffen recorded his third shutout of the season.
Philadelphia is coming off of a Friday night loss against Toronto FC. The Black & Gold are 11-8-2 against the Union in regular-season matches.
