The initial phase of the 2021 preseason is now complete as the Crew returned to Columbus over the weekend from Chula Vista, California. Now, the Club prepares to head to Orlando, Florida later this month.

It was an eventful week as a number of players checked in, in addition to various Club updates, including the announcement of the Crew's newest acquisition, Alex Matan, the 2021 MLS Home Opener release – which will see Columbus host the Philadelphia Union on April 18 at Historic Crew Stadium – and the return of Vito Wormgoorto training.

Earlier this week, Wormgoor spoke after training on his recovery process following a season-ending ankle injury he suffered last summer during the MLS is Back Tournament and how teammates have helped him along the way.

Notably, six Academy products were able to train with the First Team during their stay in Chula Vista, Calif., and ColumbusCrewSC.com caught up with them, as well as Academy Director Kelvin Jones, to discuss their inclusion in the First Team's preseason camp.
