Michael Parkhust has all the qualities of an MLS All-Star. Pedigree, production, talent – you name it, the Crew captain provides it on defense. Look no further than some of his numbers for evidence of that.
When asked about his feelings on being named an MLS All-Star, Parkhurst gave a leadership-based answer that perhaps shows another reason why he is so deserving – he credited his teammates.
"It's a great honor," said Parkhurst. "It’s a credit to the team. No defenders make it unless the team is playing well defensively. A couple of guys on our team I think are deserving, but I'll go out there and represent the team as best as I can."
As the first Crew representative since 2010, Crew Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter is aware of the significance of such an honor.
"It's great. We're proud of him," said the Crew boss. "He's made a big difference in the group. He's a steady, intelligent player and he deserves it. We're proud of him as an organization."
