The Crew SC Academy opened its MLS NEXT season this past weekend against Michigan Wolves, with the U-19 and U-17 teams headlining the action after respective 4-1 and 3-2 wins on Saturday.
Following the Academy's official "Signing Day" on Thursday, Sept. 10, the official rosters were released on Saturday morning to start the weekend.
The U-19s kicked off from the Crew SC Training Facility at Obetz and featured a trio of standout performances from Aidan Wolf, Anthony Samways, and Anthony Hernandez.
Following the U-14's shutout loss at Otterbein University Memorial Stadium, the U-15's took to the field next but could not overcome a 3-1 halftime deficit as they eventually fell 4-1.
Closing out the day's competitions were the U-17's, who were led by solid performances from debutants Lucas Rizzo, Quentin Flowers, and Levi Stephens. Tied at 2-2 in the 60th minute, the Black & Gold went on to convert a penalty in the final moments of regulation to win 3-2.
Up next, the Academy will face Michigan's Vardar SC, the former boyhood club of First Team Head Coach Caleb Porter. The schedule is as below*:
- U19 – 12 p.m. ET at Crew SC Training Facility at Obetz
- U14 – 2:30 p.m. ET at Otterbein University Memorial Stadium
- U15 – 4:30 p.m. ET at Otterbein University Memorial Stadium
- U17 – 6:30 p.m. ET at Otterbein University Memorial Stadium
Until further notice, there will be no spectators allowed at Crew SC Academy matches due to COVID-19.
