Mensah’s Ghanaian side is unbeaten through three matches so far, having gone 1-0-2 in Group F play en route to winning the group.

Now, in the first stage of the knockout rounds, Ghana is pitted against a Tunisian side that earned three draws before finalizing a second-place finish in Group E.

Mensah, who sat out of the Starting XI during Ghana’s final group-stage match against Guinea-Bissau, resumed training in preparation for Monday’s Round of 16 match, and with two caps to his belt this competition, has upped his career total to 60 appearances for the Ghanaian National Team.

As for Monday’s match-up, Ghana is unbeaten against Tunisia all-time in AFCON play, going 6-0-1 in seven total meetings, with the last meeting coming in 2012. Additionally, Ghana comes in with a +2 goal differential compared to an even-keel for Tunisia, who have scored two goals and conceded twice. Should Ghana advance, the Black Stars would face Madagascar in the quarterfinals after they topped the Democratic Republic of the Congo 2-2 (4-2 PKs) in the Round of 16.

Notably, Mensah is only one of two MLS players to remain in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, standing alongside Ungandan and Montreal Impact player Micheal Azira.
