CREW SC UNDEFEATED IN LAST SIX MATCHES
With its 2-2 draw against Toronto FC on Saturday, Crew SC extended its undefeated streak to six consecutive matches in regular-season action dating back to a 2-2 draw on the road earlier this year against the Chicago Fire (July 17). Over that span, the Black & Gold have posted a record of 2-0-4. In addition to the aforementioned results, the Crew has also registered wins against the Montreal Impact (July 20) and the New York Red Bulls (July 27), while also drawing against the San Jose Earthquakes (August 3) and FC Cincinnati (August 10).
SANTOS SCORES NINTH GOAL OF 2019
Midfielder Pedro Santos registered his ninth goal of the 2019 regular season in Saturday's home match against Toronto FC. Santos’ goal came in the 48th minute, when he connected with the back of the net after receiving a ball over the top from Wil Trapp. In addition to his strike, Santos had four shots (one shot on target) while creating two goal-scoring chances. Santos' nine goals in League play are a single-season career-high for the midfielder, whose previous largest goal-scoring output was seven tallies, which he scored during the 2015-2016 Liga NOS campaign. In 2019, Santos has made 25 regular-season appearances (23 starts), while providing three assists (three game-winning assists) to go with his nine goals (two game-winning goals).
ACCAM SCORES GOAL AGAINST TORONTO FC
Saturday's home match against Toronto FC saw David Accam register his second goal since joining the Black & Gold on May 8. Accam - who came on as a substitute in the 80th minute - made an immediate impact, recording a goal in the 82nd minute after receiving a pass from Harrison Afful. With the Black & Gold, Ac- cam has recorded 12 regular-season appearances (eight starts) recording two goals and providing one assist. In all, the midfielder has made 121 regular-season appearances (91 starts) recording six goals and providing 18 assists since joining MLS in 2015.
SANTOS & ZARDES: JOINT CREW SC SCORING LEADERS
Pedro Santos and Gyasi Zardes each have nine goals thus far in the 2019 MLS regular season, making them Crew SC's joint 2019 regular-season scoring leaders. Notably, Santos has scored four goals and provided one assist in his last five matches for the Black & Gold. Similarly, Zardes has registered three goals and one assist since returning from the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup. In 2019, Santos has scored two game-winning goals, while Zardes has scored one game-winning goal.
TRAPP NOTCHES 175TH START FOR CREW SC
With his start in Saturday's contest against Toronto FC, midfielder Wil Trapp recorded his 175th MLS regular-season start (179th appearance). Notably, Trapp played the entire 90 minutes, leading Crew SC with 72 touches, making two tackles, attempting 59 passes and finishing with a passing percentage of 89.8. Since joining Crew SC ahead of the 2013 MLS season, Trapp has scored two goals and provided 19 assists.
YOUNESS MOKHTAR MAKES FIRST CREW SC START
Midfielder Youness Mokhtar recorded his first MLS and Crew
SC start in Saturday's home match against Toronto FC. Mokhtar played 67 minutes and registered one shot, created one goal-scoring chance, made one tackle and won four duels. Mokhtar joined the Crew from Stabaek of the Norwegian First Division on July 19 of this year. Prior to joining the Black & Gold, Mokhtar made 170 First Division appearances across the Netherlands, Norway, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, while scoring 28 goals and providing 31 assists.
CREW SC CONTINUES TO RESPOND WELL AT HALFTIME
Pedro Santos' 48th-minute goal in Saturday's match marked the fourth time in the last six matches that Crew SC has scored a goal within five minutes of the beginning of the second half. Previously, the Black & Gold had also scored within this span against the Chicago Fire (July 17, 47th minute), the Montreal Impact (July 20, 46th minute) and the New York Red Bulls (July 27, 46th minute). Notably, Pedro Santos has been involved in four of those goals, as he provided the assist on David Accam's goal against the Impact, before netting against the Red Bulls and Toronto FC (August 17).
