After taking all three points on the road in Orlando last week, Columbus Crew SC recorded its second consecutive victory with a 2-0 blanking of the New England Revolution at MAPFRE Stadium on Sunday evening.
Striker Ola Kamara (42nd, 84th) notched a brace for the fourth time this season, tallying hist 14th and 15th goals on the year. Goalkeeper Steve Clark also posted five saves in a stellar shutout for Columbus — his seventh of the season.
Tonight’s crowd of 20,012 supporters marks the fifth sellout of 2016 for the Black & Gold, matching the franchise’s all-time regular season record in that category.
Crew SC kept the Revs quiet in the first 45, holding more than 56 percent of the possession, firing 12 shots and forcing New England goalkeeper Brad Knighton to make six saves. Offensively, the Black & Gold knocked on the door several times throughout the half, and after a number of chances, found the breakthrough in the 42nd minute.
After receiving a pinpoint pass from Mohammed Saied, Kamara used some shifty footwork to open himself for a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner to give his side the 1-0 advantage into halftime.

Emotions ran high between both sides as the second act of the match wore on, and Crew SC looked to find a second to seal all three points. And in the 84th minute, it was Kamara again.
After being taken down in the penalty area by Revs defender London Woodberry, the Oslo, Norway, native stepped up to the penalty spot and converted to cement all three points in the Black & Gold’s second straight win.

Crew SC is back in action this Wednesday, as it hits the road for a clash with D.C. United — and then returns for its final home contest of the season next Saturday when it welcomes rival the Chicago Fire. Kickoff for both matches is set for 7:30 p.m.
