Columbus Crew SC today announced that two of its players have received international call-ups from their respective federations: Emil Larsen (Denmark Under-23 National Team) and Rodrigo Saravia (Guatemala senior National Team).
Larsen joins the Denmark U-23s in South Korea for a preparation tournament before the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Prior to naming its official roster for the Olympic Games, Denmark plays three matches in South Korea as part of the tournament: against Honduras (June 2), Nigeria (June 4) and the hosts South Korea (June 6). Larsen has earned seven caps for the Danish senior National Team, with his last coming on March 5, 2014 in a friendly against England at Wembley Stadium.
Meanwhile, Saravia joins the Guatemala National Team ahead of an international friendly against Venezuela at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (June 1). The Crew SC rookie has registered three caps for Guatemala, including one at MAPFRE Stadium against the United States in FIFA World Cup qualification (March 29).
Larsen and Saravia join Harrison Afful (Ghana) and Cedrick Mabwati (DR Congo) as Black & Gold players currently on international duty.
Of the 25 players currently on the Black & Gold active roster, 14 have received a senior National Team call-up throughout their careers (Harrison Afful, Corey Ashe, Conor Casey, Ethan Finlay, Waylon Francis, Ola Kamara, Larsen, Cedrick Mabwati, Cristian Martinez, Justin Meram, Michael Parkhurst, Saravia, Tony Tchani, Wil Trapp).
