Columbus Crew SC today announced that it has transferred midfielder Emil Larsen to Lyngby Boldklub of the Danish Superliga. The midfielder is set to join Lyngby effective immediately.
“This is an opportunity that allows Emil to return to his native country in his hometown and gain more regular minutes,” said Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter. “We want to thank Emil for his contributions to the team and we wish him success in the next stage of his career.”
The midfielder made three MLS regular-season appearances for Crew SC, with his debut coming on March 19 at Chicago. He also made two appearances in the 2016 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as well as a start in Crew SC's friendly against Veracruz (May 11), where he registered three shots.
Larsen originally joined Columbus on January 22, 2016 after last playing for Odense Boldklub, also of the Danish Superliga.
Crew SC next plays on Wednesday, July 13 when it begins a three-match League homestand at MAPFRE Stadium against Toronto FC (7:00 p.m. ET / The CW Columbus, Time Warner Cable SportsChannel, BCSN2, CD102.5 FM, La Mega 103.1 FM, English radio stream available on ColumbusCrewSC.com).
