Columbus Crew SC today announced that midfielder Kevan George has earned a senior roster call-up from the Trinidad and Tobago National Team for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. George is on the Soca Warriors' final 23-man squad for the tournament, which is set to take place in the United States from July 7-26.
Trinidad and Tobago is in Group C of the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup along with Mexico, Guatemala and Cuba. The Soca Warriors begin their run in the tournament on July 9 by playing Guatemala at Soldier Field in Chicago. George and his teammates then play against Cuba at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on July 12 before closing the Group Stage on July 15 against Mexico at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
The midfielder has earned 10 total caps for Trinidad and Tobago. He was first called-up to the senior team for the knockout stage of the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup and he earned his first cap later that year at the OSN Cup in Saudi Arabia.
George has made four appearances (two starts) for Crew SC this season, registering one assist. He joins a contingent of players from Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter’s squad to earn international call-ups in 2015, including Waylon Francis (Costa Rica), Justin Meram (Iraq), Kristinn Steindorsson (Iceland), Wil Trapp (United States), Romain Gall (U.S. Under-20s) and Ben Swanson (U.S. Under-18s). Crew SC’s roster also features Sergio Campbell (Jamaica), Kei Kamara (Sierra Leone), Michael Parkhurst (United States) and Emanuel Pogatetz (Austria), all with senior National Team experience.
After advancing in the Fourth Round of the 2015 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup last Wednesday, Crew SC returns to MLS regular-season play this evening with a contest against the New England Revolution. The match is set to kick-off at 7:30 p.m. ET (Time Warner Cable SportsChannel / CD102.5 FM / La Mega FM 103.1).Prior to the match, an After Work Happy Hour takes place on the MAPFRE Stadium plaza from 6:00-7:00 p.m. ET, with $2 hotdogs and $4 Bud and Bud Light draft beers available for supporters aged 21 and older.
