Columbus Crew will celebrate 614 Day on Tuesday, June 14 (06/14), by hosting four community soccer sessions throughout Columbus. 614 Day is part of the Black & Gold's Soccer For All celebration throughout the month of June, focusing on the diversity of Columbus and the inclusivity of the global game of soccer.
The clinics - which are set to begin at 3:00 p.m. ET - will involve local children who regularly participate in recreational programming organized by each of the host organizations. The sessions will feature Crew players in attendance and conclude with an autograph session for the children in attendance.
Sullivant Gardens, where the Crew installed a mini-pitch in 2020, is one of four locations where the Black & Gold will be present on 614 Day. The sessions are slated to take place at three additional sites, including two locations where the Crew has installed mini-pitches with support from the Crew Foundation, Nationwide and Lower.com. Those locations include Northgate Elementary School and Blackburn Community Center. The Black & Gold will also host a session at Whitehall Community Park YMCA, a Whitehall Parks and Recreation partner.
Whitehall Parks and Recreation Youth Sports was recently the recipient of a donation by Pathways Financial Credit Union through its "Pathways Saves" program, which sees the Black & Gold place $200 on behalf of Pathways into a fund for community youth soccer programs for every save made by a Crew goalkeeper during the MLS regular season.
Joining the Crew at each of its three mini-pitch locations are the following supporter groups: The Nordecke (Sullivant Gardens Community Center), Hispanic supporter groups La Turbina Amarilla and Guardia Noventa y Seis (Northgate Intermediate School); and new supporter group The 127th (Blackburn Community Center).
