COLUMBUS — Columbus Crew SC today announced that it has loaned forward Miguel Berry to San Diego Loyal SC of the United Soccer League Championship with Crew SC retaining the right to recall the player during the loan.
“Miguel is a young forward who is competing for time on the field and needs to consistently play matches in order to continue his development,” said Crew SC President and General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. “By going on loan to San Diego Loyal SC, Miguel will be able to get the valuable minutes that he needs at this stage of his career.”
Berry was chosen by Crew SC with the seventh overall pick in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft and later signed with the Club on February 7. Prior to joining Crew SC, the forward made 72 appearances (69 starts) for the University of San Diego while registering 38 goals and 16 assists from 2016-2019. During his time at the University of San Diego, Berry was awarded the West Coast Conference (WCC) Co-Player award (2019) and was a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann National Player of the Year (2019).
