COLUMBUS – U.S. Soccer today announced that Columbus Crew Homegrown midfielders Aidan Morris and Sean Zawadzki, and goalkeeper Patrick Schulte have been called-up by U.S. Men’s National Team Head Coach Gregg Berhalter to the 25-man roster for the annual January training camp. Morris took part in the 2022 edition while this is the first senior call-up for Schulte and Zawadzki.
The training camp will run from Jan. 8-16 in Orlando. The team will then head to San Antonio to open its 2024 schedule with a friendly against Slovenia on Jan. 20 at Toyota Field. Coverage of the USA’s first match of the year begins at 3 p.m. ET on TNT, Telemundo, Universo, MAX and Peacock. Live Spanish-language audio for the match will be available on Fútbol de Primera radio.
Morris made his senior international debut on Jan. 25, 2023, in a friendly against Serbia and has four caps for the USMNT. Last season for the Black & Gold, the 2023 MLS All-Star appeared in 30 regular season matches, scoring four goals and adding seven assists. The 21-year-old started all six of the Crew’s postseason matches, tallying one assist en route to his second MLS Cup.
Schulte has previously represented the U.S. at the Under-18, U-20 and U-23 levels. The 22-year-old most recently joined the U-23s for a training camp in October of 2023. Now entering his third season with the Crew, Schulte made his MLS debut in the 2023 season opener and went on to appear in 31 regular season matches, recording 90 saves and seven shutouts. In postseason play, Schulte earned two shutouts in the Crew’s six playoff matches and recorded four saves in both the Eastern Conference Final and MLS Cup.
Zawadzki previously took part in a U-19 training camp in January of 2019. The Olmsted Falls, Ohio, native made 30 regular season appearances in 2023 playing both as a midfielder and defender, and scored three goals, including two in stoppage time. The 23-year-old appeared in all six of the Crew’s postseason matches.
Morris and Schulte are two of 13 players on the January Camp roster who are age-eligible for the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Morris, Schulte and Zawadzki join defender Steven Moreira as the Crew players on international duty this offseason, with Moreira and Cape Verde kicking off 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament play on Jan. 14.
