COLUMBUS – The Columbus Crew have loaned defender Keegan Hughes to FC Tulsa of the USL Championship for the remainder of the 2023 season. The Crew retain the right to recall Hughes at any point during the MLS regular season, subject to roster compliance guidelines.
“As a young player, the opportunity for Keegan to get regular minutes in a competitive environment will be invaluable in aiding his development,” said Crew President and General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. “It is important that we provide our players with these experiences to help them grow as players, and we look forward to monitoring Keegan’s progress while he is in Tulsa.”
Hughes signed as a Homegrown player on January 11, 2023. He made his First Team debut on March 25, entering the match in the second half of a 6-1 victory over Atlanta United. He has additionally started all nine of his appearances with Crew 2 and scored his first professional goal in Crew 2’s 3-2 road win against Toronto FC II on July 7. Prior to joining the Black & Gold, the Crew Academy product made 73 appearances (all starts) for Stanford University, registering eight goals and seven assists from 2019-2022.
