Columbus Crew today announced that Milos Degenek (Australia), Derrick Etienne Jr. (Haiti), Jonathan Mensah (Ghana), Eloy Room (Curacao) and Crew 2âs Isaac Angking (Puerto Rico) have been called-up by their respective national teams.Â
Degenek is set to join the Australia National Team for an international friendly against Jordan on June 1 before playing an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Fourth Round 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the United Arab Emirates on June 7. Should the Socceroos advance, they would then face Peru in the AFC â CONMEBOL playoff on June 13 for a spot in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Australiaâs friendly against Jordan as well as the June 7 and June 13 World Cup Qualifiers are set to be played in Qatar. To date, Degenek has earned 34 caps with the Socceroos.
Etienne Jr. travels with the Haiti National Team ahead of four Concacaf Nations League matches. Les Grenadiers first face Bermuda on the road on June 4 before hosting Montserrat in Haiti on June 7. Haiti is then slated to play Guyana twice, first traveling to Guyana on June 11, before hosting the Golden Jaguars in Haiti on June 14. Since his making his debut with Haiti in 2016, Etienne Jr. has earned 32 caps.
Room is slated to link up with the Curacao National Team ahead of three Concacaf Nations League contests. Curacao hosts Honduras on June 3 before traveling to Honduras for a road contest on June 6. La Familia Azul will close out the international window on June 9, when it travels to face Canada. The goalkeeper has previously made 40 appearances with Curacao.
Mensah will join the Ghana National Team to participate in two Africa Cup of Nation Qualifiers. The Black Stars are set to host Madagascar on June 1 before traveling to face Central African Republic on June 5. Ghana then plays Japan on June 10 and Chile on June 14, with both friendly contests taking place in Japan. To date, Mensah has earned 68 caps with Ghana.
Angking will be with the Puerto Rico National Team for two Concacaf Nations League matches. El Huracan Azul will travel to face the Cayman Islands on June 9 before hosting the British Virgin Islands in Puerto Rico on June 12. Angking has previously made six appearances for Puerto Rico.
