Campeones Cup is the annual matchup between the reigning MLS and Liga MX champions, with this year’s match being the third edition of the contest. Campeones Cup, together with Leagues Cup, are part of a larger partnership between the two most important soccer leagues in North America, MLS and LIGA MX, launched in 2018.

The Crew has previously participated in the following international competitions: the Concacaf Giants Cup (2001), the Concacaf Champions’ Cup (2003) and most recently the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League (2009-2010, 2010-2011, 2021).
