David Winner — Academy Goalkeeper Coach
A former Columbus Crew player, Winner played in the MLS & A League from 1996-2001, featuring for the Black & Gold during the 1996 through 1998 seasons. He also played for the Miami Fusion, Kansas City Wizards & was rostered on 6 other MLS Clubs rosters. Prior to that he was a Parade High School All American 1989 for Western High School and won a National Championship with the University of Tampa in 1994. He also won a gold medal at the 1992 Olympic Festival and trained with the Full National Team in 1995 and played for the National “B” Team. Most recently, he was the Boys Director of Coaching and the Goalkeeping Director for Ohio Premier SC from 2014-2019. Winner has worked as a goalkeeper coach and director since 1995, working with several organizations including Austin United Capitals, Austin Aztex (USL) the University of Tampa, Butler University, Rice University & Columbus Crew Juniors. He was on staff for USYS Regional Staff ODP 2004-2013 He holds a National “B” License, a National Goalkeeper License with the U.S. Soccer Federation and was also on the Educational/Scouting staff in 2013. He also holds a NSCAA GK Certificate Level I-III and participated in the advanced goalkeeper education course held MLS in tandem with adidas and the German Football Association in 2019. He currently resides in Hilliard, Ohio with his wife Ashlee and 3 daughters Grace, Olivia and Annie.
